Book Review: The Power Of No – Abbie Headon

Book Review: The Power Of No – Abbie HeadonThis landed on my desk this morning - a fortuitous bonus when my recent OIVAC session included lots of VAs saying "Yes" to horrible jobs, horrible bosses and horrible rates!  I really liked this colourful guide to saying "NO!" in all sorts of situations, not just work ones. So if you:

  • Say yes to invites you want to turn down
  • Can't tell a boss you don't want to do that task
  • Get conned into buying unnecessary junk
  • Don't feel you can speak up when someone disagrees with you

Then this is the book for you!

The thing I really liked about it was that it gave you some useful tools to say no in a variety of ways: Ranging from flat-out refusal to a small white lie.

And it stressed the benefit of saying No - it really is a very positive book. I liked the variety of real life stories which have been included about how saying No can open up a world of different experiences.
