What’s the difference between call handling and call answering?
Call answering is a simple message-taking service which answers the call, takes a name and number, and passes these details on, usually by email.
Call handling on the other hand does exactly what it says on the tin – it is handling an entire call from the moment the caller picks up the phone, to making sure the enquiry has been fully resolved. It can encompass diverse aspects like booking appointments, transferring calls, returning calls, and sending SMS (text) messages as well as taking a name and number and emailing a coherent message.

Is this something I can offer my clients?
Offering a call handling service to your clients is not as easy as it sounds. You will be tied to your desk Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, and the ‘phone might not even ring. Being at your desk means that you can’t go out and get more business, pop to the bank/post office, or even nip to the loo as you can’t guarantee when the ‘phone will ring. And what if you want to go on holiday, or you are ill? Who will answer the calls for you?
You will also need to be professional at all times – no background noises (such as washing machines, children, dogs etc) – and consider the equipment necessary to identify in which company’s name you should answer the ‘phone.

With our Call Answering packages, we will answer your calls in your business name, and take a detailed message including caller’s name, telephone number, subject of the call and any other relevant information you ask us to obtain. We will email this to you as soon as the call ends.
Our Virtual Receptionist packages include call answering, to which we add urgent text (SMS) messages, incoming and outgoing calls, appointment bookings, diary management and transferring calls. We will also act as a point of information for your business.
