Today we’re featuring Katey Lawson “The Dental VA” – I came across Katey’s niche virtual assistant business by accident and despite my horrific dental phobia, it sounded really interesting, so I found out more…
Your name and age?
Katey Lawson, 27
Name of your business?
The Dental VA
How long it has been running?
6 months (part-time)
What is your niche and how did you get into it?
I provide administration support solely for dental practices and dental businesses.
I have worked in the dental world since 2004, and have watched the industry progress rapidly in terms of patient customer care. Clients really shop with their feet now, as do I, which made me realize how important it is to make sure all patients, or clients, are over-the-moon with your service, or they will find somewhere else.
Depending on what the practice wants, I can provide patient support, administration support or new practice support.
With my patient support service I can call, email and text patients to remind them of appointments, follow up after treatment, send them thank you gifts and referral cards, encourage their use of social media and of recommending their friends. All of this is done so the patient feels like they really are the only patient in the practice.
I also offer a support for practices starting up, which includes help with all the administration tasks that need completing. Normally new practice budgets have been set and they cannot afford to pay a full-time administrator in the early stages so I also offer a call answering service for these start up practices.
Is it a growth area?
I believe so. I think the importance of great customer service is so high that no practice can just bumble along anymore.
Where do you see the industry going in the next 5-10 years?
More Virtual Assistants (Yay for us)! Also more growth in the corporate sector for dental practices, which is why smaller practices need to be at the top of their game!
