Oooooh!

Star Posters eh? Wot's this all about? Is this part of the something we should be looking out for, Caroline?

How exciting!!!

Forgive me - it's been a dull and boring week!

Tehe! Actually I can take no credit for this - it was Lyndsey's idea!

Anyone posting over 100 posts gets a "star poster" notification on their profile. And I'm looking for suggestions on other awards we can give out - e.g. we may want to add "Newbie VA" or "Guru"....

Any suggestions?

C.

Or "Supreme Poster"?

Why do we have to have posting titles anyway?

Thanks Lynn. It's better than the original one anyway!

Isn't there a way that you can issue different number of stars for each user level? IE - 0-10 posts - no stars, 11-25 - one star, 26-50 - two stars, and so on? Whenever I used to help run a forum that's how we had it.

I still don't know why we have to have stars in the first place!

Don't you want the recognition for the valuable support you provide to the Forum, SVA and other members?

Hi Peter,

Indeed we can have different levels of stars! I'm still looking for contributions as to what these should be called / what sorts of numbers of postings they should have etc.

It might be nice to do it by length of time being a VA for example - e.g. Newbie less than 6 months.

Hi Caroline,

It might be nice, but might be a lot of work - that would entail custom user titles I'd imagine, you'd have to update them manually.

I think I'd rather go for titles or stars by number of posts. Just MHO.

The titles aren't good and given that this can be publicly read I think using words that imply other things are not a good idea - Caroline, perhaps you should remove all reference to that 'W' word!

The stars are ok, but I'm not sure we need them either - I read every day (or mostly every day), but don't necessarily post a lot - that also applies to another site where I am a full moderator for the entire site.

We must not lose sight of our professionalism.

Done!

I agree with Peter that administrating the "Newbie" tag would be a bit of a nightmare - unless we get people to self select from a Memberlist?

(So they would join an open memberlist and be able to add the tag onto their profile automatically themselves, ditto taking it off!)
