The fact that I was under the weather and had to outsource some work has left me wondering what the rest of you do when you've got deadlines to meet and can't make them due to illness/accident.

Up to now I've just plodded on but I got a right old telling off from my doctor today.

S'pose that's the downside of being self employed eh?

Luckily now there's this forum where you can ask for, and hopefully get, help!

I also have a friend local to me who is a VA and will cover, especially if it's something that has to be physically handed over. We have done this for years and it works well.

I do think that clients will understand, though, if there is a genuine sickness and you can't work (like if you break your wrists!!!)

I'm lucky I've never really had a major problem but have often wondered what I would do if it did happen. My only problem was in the early stages of pregnancy when I was so tired I wasn't able to put in as many hours but the people I was doing work for at the time were very understanding of that once I explained.
