Hi everyone,
Hope the weather is not too bad wherever you are.
I have been looking in to all sorts of business opportunities and I like the idea of being a Virtual Assistant. I think this site is very informative and I will continue to trawl through it.
My background is mainly in life and pensions in project support and business analysis. However, I have noticed that most of the people who are VA's are female and generally offer secretarial / book keeping services etc. Hope this doesn't sound too sexist (it wasn't meant to be).
I really like the idea of offering some sort of VA service which is compatible with my skills, interests and commitments but I'm not sure if it is the riight "vehicle" for the service that I am proposing to offer?
Also, like most people I use MS Office but I also use Open Office as its very good and its free.... and it offers full MS Office compatibility though its best to check it out properly before you download it at www.openoffice.org (open source movement). Anyone else out there using OpenOffice?
Does anyone have any feedback on the above points?
Thanks to Caroline for all her help.
I am hoping to get my VA website up and running over the next couple of weeks so here goes....
Regards to all,
Robert Guthrie |

I have used OpenOffice on my partner's pc but you should be wary of this if you're going to be dealing with complex documents. It is fine for the basics, but anything with a lot of formatting will cause you issues. |
