Just a quick one to say hi, you now have another male joining your forum.

My name is Steve, based in Buckinghamshire and am just starting up my own VA type business.

I have already had a look round the forum and found some very helpful tips.

So thank you all.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum - are you specialising in any particular fields or hoping to work with any particular clients?

I've just landed a really great client who I'm so excited about working for this morning - love that feeling! I was a customer and noticed their email marketing was really dire so I got in touch... Weird way to get clients, but hey I'm not fussy!

C.

Hi Caroline,

Well, i thoroughly enjoy coding websites or creating websites for people - so that is somthing that I am offering. I am currently the one in my 9-5 job that people come to for help with mail shots, Cv's etc. Also, I do alot of data entry, KPI's and research etc so I thought that I would try my hand at doing it on a self employed basis for other companies.

As a footnote...

I have already secured my first client (and I haven't exactly started my business venture properly).

She is someone I currently work with in my 9-5 job. She is starting her own business and has secured authorisation from her accountant for me to make her a website... she has also said that when she visits potential clients she will pass on my literature to them for me and help me promote my business to them. BONUS!

Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to SVA. It sounds like you have already made a great start and long may it continue.

As far as CV's go I have notice a huge increase in requests for CV's lately, presumably with people being laid off. The one thing I will say though is to ensure they know the price before they start, people seem to think they will be about a fiver! Then they say "but I'm unemployed" For these clients tell them to go to the job centre where they can get one for free. It won't be a great CV but it will suit those that don't want to pay.

Good luck. Have you got a website up and running yet?
