You like choccie biccies? You have choccie biccies in the house! I'd rather eat crisps, especially Tyrrells, so I just don't buy them. Luckily, I don't have a sweet tooth. Must be hell for those who do!

I get a lot of complaints from the family that there aren't any "muchies" that they can snaffle as soon as they get through the door. They seem to forget that I am here all day with temptation wafting seductively under my nose, so I just tend not to buy them (unless I'm feeling very kind) as it is all too easy for the pounds to pile on just by looking at the darned things, let alone eat them!! _________________ Sally

Looking after your health when you're working from home is a challenge and something I've battled with for many years. For me it's a case of only having healthy foods/drinks in the house, eating wisely and snacking on fruit or veg. At the beginning of this year I lost nearly 2 stone by following the Rosemary Conley (RC) Low GI Hip and Thigh Diet as an online member and increasing my exercise. Then my weight started to plateau and after a few weeks of losing/gaining I lost interest and gave up.
Last week I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid - I'm fine with this and it may explain a few seemingly disconnected symptoms I've had for some time. It does, however, mean that I have to take medication for the rest of my life. In addition I will turn 40 next year and am at high risk of developing type II diabetes for several reasons and other age-related illnesses so have gone back on the RC this week. It is possible that as my medication starts to take effect losing weight will be easier but that isn't guaranteed.
For me controlling my weight is a choice but it's one that I cannot afford to reject and although I have battled with my weight all my adult life the time has come to do something about it otherwise I face multiple problems in the coming years. _________________ Regards

I hope that was a DVD or re-run of 24! I thought the new series didn't start until later in the year with a special 2 hour programme to bring us all up to speed to be screened sometime in November.
Sorry - as you can guess the family are avid 'Jack' fans.
As for the weight issue - turn the mirrors to face the wall, put locks on all your cupboards, throw out all the munchies that are left in the house - and then have a miserable time!!
You only live once - a little of what you fancy does you good!!!! _________________ Heather Greig

I have tried to loose weight after having the boys, I did start Slimming World and lost about 5lbs in 6 weeks but have been too busy to really keep it up and have stopped going to class as it is evenings and I am usually working. I have however found a good cure about the munchies. I am a big choccie fan and with two children in the house there is always some form of chocolate around (the fun size variety). I now put these in an empty ice cream tub in the frezzer.
This way I have to conciously get them out of the freezer and decide if I really want one as I have to wait for it to defrost before I can eat it.
It does not work all the time but I usually only give in about 10% of the time. I may not have lost much weight recently but I haven't put it on either which can't be too bad. _________________ Charlotte Burford

As I have inherited some health issues such as high blood pressure (and taking already since 27 years medication, yes I was 18 when I had to start with these and since one year on statins - all related to my dad who died when he was 48), one of my clients turns also out to be a nutritionist.
She asked me to be her study case as she was intrigued by my history so I went on a detox plan for 4 weeks which meant: no wheat, no gluten, no dairy, no potatoes, no pork meat and certainly no wine, coffee, tea, fizzy drinks, no juices. Well it went well till the 4th week where I suddenly could not anymore and really went adverse against food. The worst thing was that I increased my weight (which I start loosing after gaining 1 st entering the UK 3 years ago) with 1/2 st.
I was really disappointed however when I saw my GP and my blood pressure had never been so low as far as I could remember and my general wellbeing improved tremendously, I accepted the fact that I had increased my weight. However I will loose this over time again as soon my metabolism will be back in place again.
This morning I went to a network meeting and they only had bacon baps and have to say I really felt awful after that so yes I have agree, health above all (although I am still angry about that 1/2 stone)!!!! _________________ Lea Wray
