Hi
I'm considering doing a local business exhibition in October and would like to get one of these made up BUT of course cost is an issue - can anyone recommend a printer who is not going to charge an arm and a leg for doing this - preferably someone you've used yourselves to have one made so I know the quality will be good.
Thanks

Will the stand have walls or are you just buying floorspace?
If the stand has walls, you should only need posters. If you're only buying floorspace you will need a display unit of some description. The cheapest (and most flexible) are the boards that you can put posters on using velcro. The pop-up stands look slick but are expensive and you are restricted to what you have printed on it (unless you go for a velcro one) and are stored in a wheelie-bin sized container. Banner stands - less storage space required, still expensive for what you're getting and inflexible.
Exhibition stands are around 2m x 2m. If you go for posters you'll need A1 - anything smaller could look lost. I just had one done for £25 + £8 lamination + VAT.
I was checking the price of display units a month or so ago - there are deals out there but it really only makes sense if you (a) have the space to store the boards (b) will be doing enough exhibitions to warrant the cost. Although it is cheaper if you have your own display units, you will still have to pay for the floor space. The exhibition organisers can often provide display units for an additional charge but it's not as expensive as buying. A single banner stand would not provide enough "presence". I think the cheapest velcro display boards were around £400 (inc VAT), although you can get smaller ones for approx £300. Just depends on how much your budget is and how large you want the display. I was surprised at how much the prices varied so shop around.
If cost is a really big issue, the display boards can be split and used on 2 tables.
If you're dead set on having banner stands, the supplier will usually print the artwork for you and provide a finished article. _________________ Sally

Hi Sally
Thanks for that info, we're being provided with a table and two chairs and that's it. I'm sharing the 'stand' with another business as it's more cost effective and we compliment each other rather than being in competition with each other. It's a fairly small exhibition so we thought a banner stand each would be sufficient along with brochures and postcards actually on the table itself.
I doubt very much if I'll do many 'exhibitions' although it might be useful for when I do 5 or 10 min talks at the networking meetings I go to - to give a bit of added presence if you like.
