|
|
Okay - all you Facebook fanatics I need help please.
We have been doing a reciprcoal 'like' thing for Northern Ireland businesses pages over here and all has been going well - except - my 'likes' count is not increasing by the number of people/businesses 'liking' my page - WHY????
Even when I do a manual count on people/businesess who have already 'liked' my page it should be over the 30 mark but it is sitting at only 20 - what is going on?
There is no point in me 'liking' other peoples pages and seeing them 'like' mine back if they don't end up counting for anything.
I have sent off 2 emails to Facebook asking for advice but they haven't responded yet.
Any advice greatly appreciated. _________________ Heather Greig

Nope - when I count down the 'likes' column everyone is still there. _________________ Heather Greig

Hi Heather,
Are you counting the number of people or the number of business pages?
Facebook only include personal profile likes in their count, and not pages.
Apart from that, it sounds like you have a very devious gremlin in your machine
Doesn't look good on Facebook if they're not even bothering to reply!
Have you tried putting the question out on Twitter - there are loads of "gurus" on there that might know the answer.
Good luck! _________________ Sharon

Here I am :-)
Sharon is right Heather, Facebook only counts 'likes' from personal profiles and not other pages, so if people are liking yours page from their business fan page that wont be counted (sounds crazy, but that's the case)

What a pain I was counting business pages and then people.
I am a bit thick when it comes to Facebook, if you accept a like from an individual does that not mean they can see my personal page? Obviously I only want them to see the business page. _________________ Heather Greig

Don't worry Heather, people can click onto your personal profile but will only see the details you have allowed in your privacy settings.
If they want to see your complete personal profile they have to add you as a "friend", which you have to approve first.
It might be worth going into your account privacy settings to check what privacy you have it set up for - just in case!
Facebook has a habit of changing every few weeks (like the profile picture size is changing again tomorrow!), so just as you get used to something it disappears out the window - very annoying!!
Hope that all makes sense _________________ Sharon

This is all very useful info ladies - thanks.
I had wondered why I had 29 fans according to one set of info, and 31 according to another. Then there are the weekly emails telling me how many people I've 'reached' - bizarre statistics when I look at them!
I too am getting put off by the number of changes. I don't like the timeline and have managed to keep my personal profile un-timelined for the moment but the business page was changed by FB end of March. No time yet to figure out pixels etc for pictures. Worried that this sort of stuff takes up a lot of time and energy for apparently little effect (and no financial gain so far)! However, I press on in a limited way! _________________ Janet |

If it's any consolation Janet, it's taken me a long while to get into the flow of Facebook, but now I love it.
I love the new timeline - it really is a great marketing tool especially with the new features of "pinning" and "highlighting"
And, the good news is that persistence eventually paid off - I've had 2 clients from Facebook in the last 6 months !!
Keep at it - you'll get used to it :) _________________ Sharon
