I am looking to purchase an all-in-one printer, scanner, fax, copier. Does anyone out there use one of these and is so, which make would you recommend? The HP one looks pretty good so far and i have been told to stay away from Lexmark.
I would be really grateful with any feedback from anyone using one.
Many thanks. _________________ Cathy

A lot would depend on the quanities involved. I currently use a Brother MFC215C for printing, copying documents, scanning and faxing but I don't use it for large jobs. Any large quanitities of B&W I use my laser printer. This machine is now fairly cheap and quite a good machine for small jobs. It doesn't take up too much space and will also read SD cards. The one thing it cannot do is print business cards as the feed through the machine is too tight.
However, if I were replacing now I would probably try to get a laser all-in-one (although I'm not sure if the colour print copy is as good as the inkjets). Would need to do homework. If you do get a colour inkjet make sure it has 4 separate colour cartridges (would even try to get this for a laser although this would make machine bigger). I refill my inkjet cartridges, which saves heaps on ink costs.
Make sure you get a power surge protector!!! We had a lightning strike in the next town and it fried my printer (thankfully not the computers which were protected). _________________ Sally

Hi Cathy
I use an HP Photosmart 3110 All-in-One. Its a colour printer/copier/fax/scanner and I asolutely love it. It's ever so easy to use and the quality has been fantastic. The only drawback is, I think that particular model has now been discontinued. I'm not sure what the replacement model is but I assume its just as good - if not better!
Hope this helps.

We've got an all-in-one HP Officejet 6110 which is okay for light use, but the scanner isn't great. I'd see if you can do a demo in store of them scan / fax / print before buying.
We use an HP Laserjet 5000 workhorse for black and white stuff which is actually a much better printer. If you are doing only occasional high volume colour stuff then it may be cheaper to outsource it to your local copyshop? |

Mine is an HP one too and have had no problems with it although we have never actually got the fax bit going but that is because we didn't persevere in the end. Had no problems with the rest of it though.

I use an HP psc 2410 Photosmart all in one for colour printing and an old HP Laser Jet 6P mono printer which I got free from my workplace when I left, for most of my other printing. I also have my photocopier rigged up to my PC and can use that as a mono printer too.
As secretary to an ex-military association I have their huge, brand new, heavy monster of a colour laser printer - a Canon Acu Laser C2600N - which is a 'lemon' for want of a better word! This is the second one we've had as the first one just kept going wrong. When the technician came to fix it he discovered that the instructions on the display were coming up in Japanese and he had to replace it with the one I have now. I have never been able to use it because I can't change the toner cartridges. The cartridge doesn't move into the aperture far enough and is blocked from coming out of it's hidey-hole by a static part of the casing. It's really infuriating and if I didn't have my own colour printer as a back up I would have called the technician in again and thrown it at him - always supposing I could lift it of course!

The Canon MP530 does everything it says on the tin and is very reasonably priced from dabs.com. _________________ Carole Meyrick
