After attending Antonia Chitty's workshop on pomoting your business at the VA Conference I'm doing a short survey aimed at specific potential clients that I want to find more information about.

It's just going to be a short survey, no more than 10 questions, and I was thinking of offering a prize of some sort for those who complete it.

Has anyone else offered a prize for completed surveys? What did you offer and do you think it worked to get people to complete it? I thought maybe a £10 Amazon voucher.

I've read the Direct Marketing Association guidelines on Prize Draws (http://www.dma.org.uk/_attachments/resources/234_S4.pdf), which I think an offer like this would fall under, is there anything else I should be aware of?

Hi Nicola

Sounds like a good plan! Make sure you have enough input not just from your clients but also from your leads, your target market etc. i.e. Let's say you forward this to people who have already signed on the dotted line, you're potentially ignoring why people haven't signed up with you.

Also make sure your questions are tickbox style to maximise responses. People are by nature v lazy!

Good luck!

Tick boxes/multiple choice is definitely a very good point..people will be more likely to complete it if it doesnt involve lots of work on their behalf ;)

Amazon voucher is good..something for everyone on there!

Thanks for your replies.

I'm using Surveymonkey and it's all tick boxes with a comment box at the end in case anyone wants say more. I'm going to post it on some LinkedIn groups and post on Twitter so hopefully will have a good response from a wide selection of my targets!
