I contacted Trading standards last week regarding a locksmith claiming to be be approved this and that.
They are looking in to it. In the same conversation I was told that all websites must have an address on them.
Is this correct? I know that I have one on mine, but how many don't!!

This is interesting and something that I hadn't considered. I deliberately don't have my address on my website as it is also my home address and so I didn't feel that I wanted to make this public, although I don't suppose it really makes that much difference. I'll have to get onto making a few changes to my site then! _________________ Outhouse-UK - the place to go for business support

If you feel a bit funny about putting what is clearly a residential address on there Steph, you can make it more business-y. So:
12 St Albans Avenue
Becomes Suite 1, 12 St Albans Avenue
I must admit because I have an office I don't have this problem but I reckon that most people hiring a VA now would check out the address on Google maps etc and check it's a real address... So it probably wouldn't help much!
It's weird how Google changes the world.... _________________ To support SVA please donate to: http://tinyurl.com/37urec |

Steph - I have my office at home and show my address on my website. This also shows up my location on Google maps but I am glad to say I have never had anyone arriving unannounced at the front door.
To keep myself right I clearly state in my terms and conditions that all face to face meetings must take place at an off-site location so there are no Public Liability insurance issues. _________________ Heather Greig

I work from home but have set up a business address with a local business park and use this or my mailing and all promotional/business post. It only costs about £20 per month. _________________ Billie-Jo Johnson-Roberts

Hi there,
I know quite a few people who use a 'Virtual Office' as an address for their post.
If you would like to have a look into this a bit more may I suggest looking at Space4work in Derbyshire (they have offices all over though). They also offer a service where they can post your mail to you or you can collect it. There are a variety of options for you. _________________ Debbie
