Hi all, I briefly introduced myself in February when I was just starting out in the VA world and it was all a little daunting!

I have now been up and running properly for the past 3 months and have in the past 2 weeks gained 3 new clients! Yayy!! I would recommend to all the other newbies out there to have a little patience (think there is a song in that line!) and a lot of perseverance, it eventually pays off! Oh and network network network! Tell all your family and friends about what you can do and word soon gets around!

Good luck to all the newbies on here and keep checking this forum for its wonderful information, it really has been priceless to me.

Congratulations on a successful start.

For the benefit of our common knowledge how did you get your 3 new clients? Are they as a result of marketing, networking events, business contacts or family & friends? We are constantly asked what is the best way to get clients and your input as a newbie will be invaluable.

Hi Sally - in aswer to your questions I have found that recommendations through friends, family and previous clients have worked far better than any marketing methods for me. Although I do also believe that websites etc do add credibility to what you can do too.

I also receive more calls and emails from potential clients from business cards that I have strategically placed! My daughters school, ballet school, dentist etc etc. Always worth having your cards on you and leaving a few wherever you are.

I also hate to mention Facebook but if you create a group on your profile and invite all your friends to it then they too have your information on their profiles for all their friends to see too. Just another free source of advertising!

It's not easy out there but the work is there to be had if you have enough drive to just go and get it!

Hope this helps in even just a tiny way for others.

We frequently bang on to newbies about telling everyone you know what it is you do. So it is nice to hear from new starts quite how successful that this and personal networking can be. Go on everyone, don't be shy. Get out there and spread the word!!
